Aftercare Advice
Aftercare advice will always be given in person, however, we understand that sometimes it can be a lot for you to take in after being so pleased with your new treatment!
If you cannot find the aftercare on here for the treatment you have had, please do not hesitate to get in touch and we aim to respond within 48 hours.
I'd like to take this opportunity to remind that adverse reactions and contra-actions to treatments can occur at anytime. This can happen with or without a patch test, as a patch test does not rule out the possibility of an allergy 100%. We will always do our best to offer advice and support through these unfortunate outcomes so please do not hesitate to get in touch.
It always helps to advice us of any changes to your health, medications etc prior to treatment so we can provide information on what to look out for. If in doubt, ask.

Treat the area like a wound. Keep nice and clean, the area is fine to come into contact with client water, should the area become wet simply pat dry.
-
Drink plenty of fluids to aid healing, and apply protective balm (nothing that tingles!) frequently to help repair the lips.
-
If you have ever had a coldsore it is likely an outbreak will occur, please take anti viral medication as prescribed by your GP on the day of treatment, if you forget and an outbreak happens it is important you keep clean to avoid the risk of infection. Seek medical attention in order to aid the healing of the coldsores. Typically, Aciclivor 200mg is taken by those with a history.
-
Avoid sun exposure as this can cause pigmentation.
-
Do NOT pick the area, allow to heal.
-
What to expect? They make look darker initially as they will oxidise within 24 hours, once scabbing has come away naturally you may notice significant colour loss. This is normal. Allow the skin to heal for 4 weeks and this can be assessed at your top up.
-
Results are not guaranteed as everyone will heal differently. This is down to many factors. Should additional treatments be required there is a cost. No tweaks can be made until 4 weeks.

If your eyes feel gritty please do NOT rub, this can cause abrasions, instead simply swill the eye. This usually subsides within a few days.
-
To help reduce swelling you can use cold compresses for relief and it is recommended that you sleep slightly raised with an extra pillow.
-
Believe it or not, coldsores can occur on the eyes so it is really important to let us know whether or not you have a history. Typically, Aciclivor 200mg is taken by those with a history, it is best to speak to your GP beforehand for advice or consult immediately should a coldsore present itself.

Waxing
-
Please avoid sun exposure and heat treatments pre and post treatment. This can heighten the risk of contra actions to using a wax.
-
Here at Beauty & the ink we use digital wax heaters, this ensures wax is at a consistent temperate and prior to treatment we will always test the wax on ourselves. Commonly due to many factors, grazing/ lifting of the skin can occur after waxing, it is often confused with the skin being burnt due to the slight burning sensation you will feel. This is not a burn and will heal. Our advice is to apply a cold compress to ease any discomfort or pain and use sudocrem once a day to aid the healing. If you would like advice please do get in touch.

It is important to make us aware of any skincare products or medication you may be taking, as this can cause thinning of the skin making you at greater risk of a contra-action.
